New food and drink menus at Slug and Lettuce

Slug and Lettuce bars have introduced a new cocktail menu and other changes to its drinks selection to mark the arrival of warmer weather.

With an emphasis on fruity ingredients, it has added twists to the classics as well as popular serves such as a Pimms and lemonade packed with fresh fruits.

Slug and Lettuce, part of Stonegate Pub Company, has also switched to Havana Club three-year-old rum for its rum-based drinks to give them a deeper and more distinct taste.

For those with a sweet tooth, the Rumberry Mojito is made with the Havana Club, black raspberry liqueur, mint, lime juice and sugar, topped with pomegranate juice. The Redberry Iced Tea is a blend of five spirits topped with strawberry puree and Red Bull.

Stonegate marketing manager Nicola Stuart said: “The Slug and Lettuce is famed for its range of tasty cocktails and we value innovation. It is important to offer guests a variety of options.”

Selected sites will also be introducing “Slug’s Finest”, a selection of five premium wines including Vacheron, a dry Sancerre with citrus and orchard fruits from France and The Federalist, a rich Zinfandel with black fruits.

Also introduced last week was a new food menu, featuring dishes such as the Ultimate S&L Burger, Spicy Pork Pad Thai and Beef Madras.

The bars’ sharing platters have seen the addition of a range of sliders, or mini burgers, Southern-fried chicken, pulled pork in a sticky Tabasco sauce, and beef topped with smoked mozzarella cheese and served with chips and dips.

Pulled pork has also been introduced in new dishes across the menu including sharing nachos with Spicy Sticky Pulled Pork and the Pulled Pork sandwich served on artisan bread with melted smoked mozzarella cheese and crunchy chilli coleslaw.

The popular Tostada flatbreads now have the new option of Pulled Pork in Spicy Tabasco sauce with jalapeno, melted smoked mozzarella and tomato salsa.

Two new dishes have been added to the popular “under 500-calorie” menu with the Spicy Pork Pad Thai (498 calories) and Grilled Asparagus and King Prawn Salad (350 calories).

Other new dishes include Stuffed Chicken Schnitzel, Italian-style Salmon, Grilled Salmon 3 Grain Risotto, and sweet potato fries with garlic mayo. New desserts include Millionaire’s Meringue and Passion Fruit Syllabub.

Nicola said: “The new Slug and Lettuce menu offers something for everyone from brunch options, sharing dishes, sandwiches and wraps to classic main course choices, salads, curries, burger and pasta dishes.

“The latest menu incorporates a range of dishes that give the customer real choice from lighter dishes and sharing platters to pub food favourites and mouth-watering desserts.
