A new general manager has been announced for leading cocktail bar Dandelyan at the Mondrian London hotel.

James Wheeler (pictured) has been promoted to the role from assistant general manager which involved him in all aspects of service, recruitment, training and menu development.

He has worked at specialist drinks agency Sweet & Chilli where he consulted for a number of well-known brands including Virgin, Johnny Walker and Calvin Klein across festivals, fashion weeks and product launches.

He started in the hospitality industry at 18 and, after several years working in Hertfordshire, moved to Dorset where he became manager of restaurant Café Shore in Poole. He starts in his new role at Dandelyan this month.

Dandelyan, which was opened over three years ago by Ryan Chetiyawardana, this year rose to second place behind The Savoy’s American Bar in the ranking of the World’s 50 Best Bars.
