New Meatliquor opens with second UK outing for Czech tank beer

Budweiser Budvar has unveiled its second tank beer location in the UK with the opening of the latest Meatliquor in London.

Its Tankové Pivo will be delivered direct from the brewery in the Czech Republic and stored in customised temperature-controlled tanks at the restaurant in Upper Street, Islington.

It made its UK debut at Zigfrid von Underbelly in Hoxton Square in east London and is set to be part of a continuing roll-out of the brewery-fresh lager to bars and restaurants in the UK.

The new Meatliquor is the eighth site for Yianni Papoutsis and Scott Collins, including the opening of a restaurant in Singapore in June, and their fourth in London. They specialise in American-style burgers, chicken wings and cocktails.

Simon George, UK sales director for Budweiser Budvar UK, said: “Scott and the team at Meatliquor are brilliant, progressive operators and this is our seventh partnership with them. We’re delighted that they have selected Budweiser Budvar again, this time with our Tankové Pivo, in such an exciting and dynamic site.”

The new Meatliquor has been created in an abandoned Citroen garage in a site that has played host to many pop-ups in recent years. It is spread across an old garage, workshops, offices and storerooms including a newly unearthed cellar and basement.

Along with bringing tried and tested classics including The Dead Hippie, Dirty Chicken Burger, Deep Fried Pickles and Chili Cheese Fries, the evolving menu will also feature Meatliquor Singapore dishes including Sambal Wings, Sambal fries and Buffalo Shrimp.
