The New Moon Company is to open its second site in Liverpool, bringing across its concept Beef & Pudding which has been a hit in Manchester city centre.

The new restaurant and bar, which will have over 140 covers, will open in Brunswick Street in Liverpool’s thriving business district this summer.

It follows the first Beef & Pudding which opened in Booth Street in Manchester in spring last year (pictured), serving high-quality fresh food, locally sourced wherever possible, alongside cocktails and ales.

It was the first of New Moon’s “urban” offerings after developing food-led pubs such as The Old Sessions House in Knutsford, Cheshire, and the Lord Binning in Kelsall, Cheshire.

New Moon, headed by Paul Newman and celebrity chef David Mooney, is already set to open its first Liverpool site, The Old Blind School in Hardman Street, in June.

The new Beef & Pudding’s bar will stock carefully selected wines, spirits, real ales, champagnes and sparkling wines alongside an extensive cocktail list. The main food menu will mix pub classics with more unique dishes, including the north-west-inspired Beef’Ham Tower.

Beef & Pudding will create 40 new jobs in Liverpool including positions for management, bar, kitchen and waiting staff.

Paul, who previously worked at north-west bar and restaurant group Living Ventures, said: “Having operated in Liverpool before, I am thrilled to be back at the helm of what promises to be the proverbial third place for Liverpool’s great and good.”

Paul was a founder member, board member, marketing director and shareholder in Living Ventures, the company behind concepts such as The Living Room, Gusto Restaurants and the Blackhouse Grills.
