The team behind Edinburgh Gin are to launch a new navy-strength gin, Cannonball, debuting exclusively at Edinburgh gin bar Heads & Tales.

At 57.2% ABV, it has a strong, punchy taste and is very juniper forward with back notes of its Szechwan pepper botanical.

Heads & Tales (pictured), which opened this summer in the basement of the Rutland Hotel in Edinburgh’s West End, will be the only on-trade outlet of the gin which is made in a still on the same site.

Its distiller Dave Wilkinson said: “I won’t share my secrets but what I can tell you is that it’s delicious and makes an amazing Martini with either a twist of lemon or a nice big olive.”

Bruce Hamilton, who runs Heads & Tales, said: “We are excited to be the only on-trade stockists of this new navy-strength gin. The team at Heads & Tales have had a great time creating new exciting cocktails with this great-tasting gin.”

Heads & Tales is home to two stills, Flora and Caledonia, which people can see in action as they sip cocktails at the bar.
