New prosecco brand brings ‘liquid gold’ to top-end bars

A new brand of prosecco, in a sleek bottle with a bold design, is being introduced in the UK for luxury clubs and bars.

In the classic style of the north-eastern Italian sparkling wines, Liquid Gold Prosecco is a Treviso Spumante Brut with an aromatic and fruity bouquet that is dry and elegant on the palate.

It has been taken up by top-end restaurants and bars such as Zafferano in Belgravia and Novikov in Mayfair, with other exclusive venues in Mayfair and Knightsbridge set to be added shortly.

Liquid Gold Prosecco is available in its core dark green 75cl bottle form but can also be ordered in a range of opulent metallic colours: blue, red, yellow, gold, silver, pink and green.

Chief executive Marino Roberto, who founded the brand, believes there is great potential for
further growth of prosecco in the UK after previously owning Michelin-starred Ristorante Semplice in Mayfair as well as high-end fashion stores.

“The Liquid Gold brand was created to help merge the fashion-conscious individual with high-end design and Italian quality,” he explained.

“We believe the unique metallic colour ranges and elegant bottle design will help to enhance the popularity of the prosecco drink.”

The brand has this year hosted events at the Monte Carlo F1 Grand Prix, VIP events at the Zest Monaco Club and launch parties in Saint-Tropez. It will be showcased at this year’s Taste of London Winter at Excel in London’s Docklands in November.

Sales of prosecco have grown in the UK to make it the most popular sparkling wine, regularly outselling champagne. In 2013, 307 million bottles of prosecco were sold globally.
