New space in Manchester for bartender education and pop-ups

The Loft Manchester

A new events space has been created in Manchester by drinks company Pernod Ricard UK to host pop-ups, bartender education and other events.

Taking over the site of the former Walkabout Bar in Quay Street, The Loft covers 6,000 square feet and has capacity for 150 people. It will be used by Pernod Ricard UK for its own events but is also available for private hire.

Described as a blank canvas for any occasion, the space includes spacious training areas and a bar fully stocked with Pernod Ricard UK’s brands which include Chivas Regal whisky, Absolut vodka, Jameson whiskey, Perrier-Jouët champagne and Malibu.

Regular educational evenings will be held for bartenders, allowing them to use the space to experiment and learn from industry peers. An event manager dedicated to the space will also help create and deliver bespoke events.

Pernod Ricard UK’s managing director, Laurent Pillet, said: “This is a city full of culture and innovation, so it made perfect sense that we should create a space here. Located in the very heart of the city, this long-term project will boast a private experiential venue, and areas to work, meet and relax.”

The Loft has opened as a pop-up open to consumers, called The Blend by Chivas Regal, which has come to Manchester after its success in London. Running on selected dates to April 15, it gives people a chance to explore the world of scotch whisky in a one-hour session where guests create a 200ml bottle of their own whisky.
