New stand-alone bar to launch at Marriott

A new stand-alone destination cocktail bar, The Luggage Room, is to be launched at the London Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square this week.

It aims to bring back a “bygone era of glamour, elegance and sophistication”, with an opulent interior and a menu of classic Cobblers, Martinis and Punches.

The bar manager is Abdulai Kpekawa, most recently at the bar at Roux at Parliament Square in Westminster. The hotel is also home to Gordon Ramsay’s Maze restaurant.

Drinks include the signature Bentley Cup, made with gin, elderflower syrup, cucumber water, marmalade vodka and champagne. Others include a Fish House Punch – cognac, rum, peach, lemon and sugar – and a Boston Cobbler, made with port, calvados, lemon, orange and pineapple.

The bar’s relaunch follows the sale of the Marriott-branded hotel by private equity group Blackstone Real Estate Partners to Strategic Hotels. The new bar officially opens on Thursday (December 13).
