New team appointed to take over helm at Artesian

Anna and Remy Artesian

A new team is set to take over the helm of the Artesian bar at The Langham hotel in London, aiming to build on its world-class reputation as a hub of cocktail creativity and hospitality.

Rémy Savage, who was at Little Red Door in Paris for four years, has been appointed head bartender while Anna Sebastian, currently bar manager at the Beaufort Bar at The Savoy in London, will be the new bar manager.

Artesian is well-known for its creative and imaginative cocktails as well as its high levels of service. It once held the number-one slot in the ranking of the World’s 50 Best Bars but, after the departure of its team including Alex Kratena, Simone Caporale and Roman Foltan two years ago, it dropped to 54 in 2016 and this year disappeared from the top 100.

Rémy and Anna will start their new roles on November 1. They will collaborate on a preview menu that will be available from December, followed by an official menu launch in March next year.

Anna said: “I’ve always admired Artesian and what it stands for as a bar. This is an exciting new chapter for me and I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to a place that celebrates innovation and originality.”

Rémy said: “London has always been somewhere I’ve admired for its amazing cocktail scene and I’m so excited to be returning to the city in one of its most beautiful bars. I can’t wait to start working with the team and one of London’s best bar managers!”

Rémy is an award-winning bartender, including being named “World’s Most Imaginative Bartender” in Bombay Sapphire’s international competition in 2014. While working at Little Red Door, the bar rose to number 11 in the World’s 50 Best Bars and was a top-four finalist for best international cocktail bar in this year’s Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards.

He is recognised by the industry for his creativity and unique approach to flavour, aiming to “playfully question the drinking experience” with every sip.

Anna has had a very successful tenure at the helm of The Savoy’s Beaufort Bar where she not only led the team to its 2015 best international hotel bar award in the Spirited Awards but was also named Imbibe’s Bar Personality of the Year in 2016. She has been at The Savoy for seven years, including a spell in The American Bar, and has been bar manager of the Beaufort for the past four years.
