New vintage released by Rum Diplomático

Rum Diplomático’s 2004 Single Vintage rum is now available from Speciality Brands Ltd.

The new vintage will accompany the Ambassador as part of the brand’s Prestige range, which are blends from Diplomático’s most exclusive reserves and produced in limited quantities.

Diplomático Single Vintage is crafted from special rum reserves, selected by the master blenders for their distinctive character.

Distilled in vintage copper pots stills in 2004, the rum has been aged for 12 years in American white oak casks that previously served bourbon and whisky.

After the aging process, the master blenders have carefully blended the rum in order to obtain the structure, body, personality, flavours and aromas that they are looking for. The rum then spends a year in Oloroso sherry casks.

Master blender Nelson Hernández said: “The 2004 Single Vintage is slightly more dry and oaky than previous releases. This rum shows a rich aromatic profile with notes of vanilla, coffee and chocolate.

“On the palate, it is well balanced and flavoursome, with toasted wood and spicy notes, and given its complex flavour profile and lasting finish, it is recommended to be savoured neat.

“In a time where the ultra-premium rum category is entering the spotlight, and rum is finally being recognised as a quality sipping spirit, we are looking forward to seeing the 2004 Single Vintage reach its fullest potential.”

Speciality Brand’s Chris Seale added: “2004 has arrived just in time as we have recently run out of the previous vintage. We have a long list of customers eager to taste this latest release which is sure to build on the success of the 2002 Vintage amongst Diplomático fans.”

As the latest release in Diplomático’s ultra-premium line up, the 2004 Single Vintage will come in new, enhanced packaging.
