New vodka and gin planned by Poshmakers

The team behind Ish Gin are preparing to launch new products into the UK in partnership with premium drinks specialist 10 Degrees C.

The Poshmakers will introduce AKA Vodka in February, made 100 per cent from British grain and distilled five times plus an extra distillation of 50 per cent to bring added roundness and creaminess. It will seek point of difference through a super-premium positioning linking it to the 1960s and a classic Vodka Martini.

In time for spring, The Poshmakers will launch a new variant of Ish Gin, the juniper-heavy gin introduced to the UK in 2011. The new gin will be called Ish Limed, retaining the emphasis on juniper but with a different recipe of botanicals including lime.

The Poshmakers was formed by Ellie Baker and Fran Ameijeiras, who own Bristol Bar in Madrid. Their other product is Virgin Gorda, a blend of rums from Trinidad, Barbados and Jamaica.

In the UK, they are part of the portfolio of brand agency 10 Degrees C which is developing brands for other owners such as Folkington’s juices and 1724 Tonic.

This month, 10 Degrees C is introducing a new premium tequila to the UK, Herencia Mexicana, which has been in the US since 2008. It will come as a blanco, reposado and añejo plus a limited-release extra-añejo, produced in the highlands of Tequila.

Also this month, 10 Degrees C will be launching new expressions of Atlantico rum from the Dominican Republic after the success of the premium Private Cask made up of rums aged 15 to 25 years. The new releases will be the white Platino and the aged Reserva, both light and smooth with an ABV of 40 per cent.

A shorter version of this story appears as part of the Ones To Watch report in the January 2013 edition of Bar magazine.
