New York inspires glamorous new Liverpool bar

A striking new bar called Liberté is due to open in Liverpool next month, inspired by the city being the starting point for voyages to the United States.

Located on the third floor of the Bentley Building on the Strand, the luxurious bar and restaurant is due to be opened in late May by entrepreneur Liam Hincks, a local DJ and co-founder of the city’s Amp radio.

Its New York City influence takes inspiration from the venue’s views of the River Mersey and the waterfront (pictured). Emigrants set sail from here for New York where the first landmark was the Statue of Liberty.

The views will be matched by an interior of bright colours, graffiti-style art and neon lighting. A connecting rooftop bar, set to be the largest flat-top roof terrace in the city, will follow later in the year. The project was originally announced last October.

With a wide range of spirits, wines and beers, it will feature an extensive cocktail list that is being developed by John Gilchrist of The Industry Consultants with bartender Jonathan Ryder.

Jonathan said: “The list is composed of innovative and quality cocktails to emulate the interior design and concept. Our bartenders will undergo a stringent training programme in order to deliver the drinks to the standard our customers will come to expect.

“The bar itself has been designed ergonomically with the highest-specification equipment for speed of service and to deliver entertaining and delicious drinks.”

Liberté will operate seven days a week from midday until 2am. It will have a casual fine dining-style menu of Pan-Asian-inspired food as well as a brunch offering.

Weekly entertainment is set to include DJs, a saxophonist and percussionists in the evening. Liam said: “I have been in ongoing talks and have some fantastic summer events booked in with concepts taken from Dubai and London, mixed in with the coolness of the New York influence.”

The Bentley Building is also home to Tom Hall’s Tavern, Argentinian restaurant Meet, and The Bentley, an events space that opened last summer.
