Newcastle bar wins trip to St Lucia with Mai Tai twist

Alvinos mai tai

A team from Alvinos in Newcastle upon Tyne were the winners of a competition to find the bar with the best-selling twist on a Mai Tai.

Using two expressions of Chairman’s Reserve rum, bars across the UK were challenged to promote their cocktails during June and July, earning points for their activities such as events, social media and innovative promotions.

Alvinos, an established destination for cocktails in Newcastle’s Pilgrim Street, has won a training visit for two bartenders to St Lucia, where the rum is made, as part of the Chairman’s XI programme run by UK distributor Emporia Brands.

It was one of four bars at the final at pop-up The Magic Roundabout in London this week alongside The Bureau in Birmingham and Trading House and Mahiki in London. They all re-recreated their Mai Tai twist for the crowd for a large National Mai Tai Party.
