NRB24 REPORTS RECORD ATTENDANCE

Northern Restaurant & Bar, sponsored by Uber Eats, has reported an 11% increase in attendance at this week’s trade show. 

More than 9,600 visitors attended the two day trade event in Manchester, which took place on 12-13th March at Manchester Central, with over 300 food, drink, tech and equipment suppliers showcasing the very best innovation across the sector.

Northern Restaurant & Bar 2024 saw a jam-packed line up of interviews with some of the industry’s most dynamic leaders, sharing insight and discussion on the sector’s key topics. 

In a keynote interview, Kate Nicholls OBE, Chief Executive of UK Hospitality discussed their mission to increase the attraction of hospitality as a career and also shared advice for operators on navigating the sector following the recent Spring Budget announcement. Other highlights from the event also saw Sacha Lord champion the success of Manchester’s hospitality and nightlife sector, Will Beckett of Hawksmoor discuss growing a business, whilst Simon Rogan and Tom Barnes delved into their extraordinary careers so far.

Chef live sponsored by UNOX witnessed the culinary delights from the likes of Michelin star recipient Hrishikesh Desai, Sally Abe & Adam Reid. Drinks live sponsored by Monin talked about innovation, standing out from the crowd and running an award winning establishment from The Cheshire Cat Company.

The Kuits NRB Top Fifty also returned for its eleventh edition, recognising fifty top hospitality operators who have excelled both commercially and critically over the past twelve months. Special achievement trophies were awarded to Kenny & Abbie Atkinson for House of Tides / Solstice and to Matthew & Ben Jones for their success with Roxy Leisure Group & Concept Taverns over the last twenty years. 

Diversified Communications, organisers of NRB, also revealed the launch of lunch! NORTH, a northern version of its award-winning trade show lunch!. 

This new show will take place at Manchester Central alongside an extended Northern Restaurant & Bar on 11–12th March 2025. lunch! NORTH will focus on the café, coffee shop and food-to-go sector in the North and provide a dedicated trade show for these operators. 

Exhibitors will be handpicked suppliers with innovative products and solutions for decision makers from multi-site and independent food-to-go operators. 

Chris Brazier, Group Event Director for NRB & lunch! NORTH, explains the reason for the launch “The North, and indeed Northern Restaurant & Bar, is full of incredible restaurant, pub, and bar operators, but is also home to some of the best coffee shops, cafés, and food-to-go operators that you’ll find anywhere. The ongoing success of the lunch! show in London, and indeed the growth we are seeing with NRB, makes us very confident this will be another unmissable event for the whole hospitality industry”.

Exhibitor at the show, James O’Sullivan, CEO at Kobas, reported: “NRB 2024 was the single busiest show we’ve done in the 10 years – they’ve been part of our sales approach. We collected 43% more leads in 2024 than in 2023 and 17% more than any other show in 2023.”
