Ojo de Tigre mezcal arrives in the UK

Ojo de Tigre mezcal

Mezcal brand Ojo de Tigre, produced at the Case Lumbre distillery in Mexico, is launching in the UK this month.

Ojo de Tigre, which translates as Tiger’s Eye, is made from sustainably-grown agave – specifically the Espadín and Tobalá varieties.

The 37% ABV mezcal is described as subtle and moreish, with notes of dried fruits, citrus, smoked cocoa, hints of cucumber and cooked agave.

It is recommended enjoyed neat, with slices of fresh pineapple and sal de gusano (Oaxacan chile worm salt) served on the side, and can also be used to create a myriad of cocktails.

Ojo de Tigre will be distributed in the UK by Mangrove UK from mid-October.

Roberto Hidalgo, chief marketing officer and partner at Casa Lumbre, said: “Ojo de Tigre is a vibrant, sophisticated and joyful mezcal. We can’t wait to introduce our latest offering to the UK market.

“We have created a drink that doesn’t overwhelm; it is subtle, warming and perfect served either alone or in a cocktail.”

Nick Gillett, managing director of Mangrove UK, added: “As the mezcal market continues to grow, it’s a great honour to welcome Ojo de Tigre to the UK. I am confident that British consumers will appreciate it.”
