On-trade launch for eco-friendly Avallen Calvados

Avallen Calvados

Healthy Hospo founder Tim Etherington-Judge and wine and spirits specialist Stephanie Jordon have partnered to launch a new calvados brand called Avallen.

Born out of a shared passion for traditional spirits and sustainable products, Avallen Calvados has been created to “reignite” the calvados category, while having a positive impact on the world’s wild bee population.

Described as fresh, fruity and apple-forward in its flavour profile, the new calvados is produced in the La Manche region of Normandy, France, which has been pesticide-free since 2016.

Aged in French oak barrels for two years, it is bottled at 40% ABV with no added sugar, caramel or boisé, a wood extract that can be used to add colour to calvados.

Tim and Stephanie have developed a programme to help bee populations around the world which will run alongside the product’s release.

Avallen’s ‘Bee Positive’ message will see the brand donate a small share of profit for every bottle sold to organisations dedicated to restoring and protecting bees, with a commitment to plant 100,000 wild flowers over the next three years.

Avallen will officially launch at sustainable London cocktail bar Nine Lives this month.
