Be At One expands into East Midlands with Nottingham bar

Be At One is set to open its first bar in the East Midlands as work begins on developing a new site in Nottingham.

With its signature menu of over 150 cocktails, it is due to open its doors in Victoria Street in the Hockley area on September 16 in the former site of bar and club Nirvana.

Creating 16 jobs, the bar will provide an extensive training programme for the new team to maintain the group’s reputation for “exceptional service and showmanship”.

It will be the 32nd site for the group, headed by founders Rhys Oldfield, Leigh Miller and Steve Locke (pictured), who opened their first Be At One bar in London 18 years ago.

Steve said: “I’m really looking forward to opening the bar – it’s going to be absolutely phenomenal. Nottingham is a great city and the Hockley area in particular is really buzzing, although there’s nothing like Be At One there at the moment.”

The cocktails will range from blended specialties such as the Popster, topped with sweet and salty popcorn, to reimagined classics such as the Gin Re-Fashioned.

It will also champion healthier options in its virtuous range containing less alcohol and sugar. Beetroot juice, manuka honey and carrot juice are among the ingredients used to create cocktails such as the Beetroot Retox, Bee’s Knees and Flame-Haired Vixen.

Steve added: “We take our drinks seriously and are consistently refining our menu and testing the drinks to keep improving them. We also pride ourselves on offering great customer service.

“Our new bartenders are all local talent and they undergo nine weeks of training which costs £5,000 each. This training means that all our guests will be acknowledged within five seconds of reaching the bar. To my knowledge no-one else invests so much in training their bartenders.”

The bar will offer Be At One’s cocktail masterclasses for consumers, learning how to mix signature cocktails through games and races. It will also be supported by the group’s smartphone app, offering guests a personalised “Appi Hour” and a random daily £5 cocktail available through its “Be Appventurous” feature.
