Patrón to bring chilli chocolate liqueur and aged tequila to UK

The Patrón Spirits Company is to launch its new chocolate and chilli liqueur in the UK alongside plans to introduce the ultra-premium extra-añejo expression of its tequila.

Patrón XO Cafe Incendio combines the spice of Mexican arbol chilli pepper with the rich essence of Criollo chocolate with a base of Patrón Silver tequila. It has ABV of 30%.

Suitable as a shot or over ice, it is being promoted for using in cocktails. It builds on the success of coffee and tequila liqueur Patrón XO Café although the new variant contains no coffee.

It is due to be available in the UK by the end of this year after its launch in the US this autumn where it is priced around $34 (£22).

The Patrón Spirits Company is also planning to introduce its ultra-premium extra-añejo tequila Gran Patrón Piedra in the UK early next year.

Launched in travel retail in 2013, it is aged for more than three years in new American and French oak barrels which gives it a deep mahogany colour and the sweet, subtle aromas of fruit, light citrus, and toasted French oak. It has ABV of 40%.

It is packaged in a striking bottle inspired by the tahona stone traditionally used for crushing the agave plants to make tequila. This comes in an elegant box that converts into a display case. In the US, it retails around $360 (£230).
