Leading bartender to open 2016 London Sessions programme

Punch Room London Edition

World-leading bartender Peter Dorelli is to lead the first of this year’s London Sessions – the programme of events presenting the biggest names in today’s bar industry.

He will talk about his career, which spans more than 50 years including 23 years at the helm of the American Bar at The Savoy in London. Since leaving The Savoy, Peter travels globally judging competitions, making drinks, and striving to educate a young generation of hospitality professionals.

The session takes place on Sunday January 17 in the Punch Room bar (pictured) at the London Edition hotel in Fitzrovia. It is free but places will be allocated to the first 50 people who email organiser Rebekkah Dooley at rebekkah@rebekkahdooley.com at midday onwards today (January 4). Previous sessions have booked up very quickly.

The session, which starts at 1pm, will also feature Davide Segat, bar manager for Punch Room, talking about pizza and Andy Shannon, a bartender at the London Edition, presenting on Plymouth Gin.

Peroni beers, pizza and Negronis will be available on the house, plus a free copy of The Savoy Cocktail Book for all attendees to take home with them, thanks to sponsor Plymouth Gin.

Launched in July last year, the London Sessions will continue throughout this year with events once or twice a month in London and in New York City. Speakers will be announced nearer the time.

Speakers in London last year included Sean Muldoon and Jillian Vose from The Dead Rabbit Grocery & Grog in Manhattan, tequila ambassador Tomas Estes of Café Pacifico group and Ocho tequila, Erik Lorincz of The Savoy’s American Bar, Steve Schneider-Hadzismajlovic of Employees Only in Manhattan, Julio Bermejo of Tommy’s Restaurant in San Francisco, Simone Caporale formerly of The Langham’s Artesian Bar, and drinks historians Jared Brown and Anistatia Miller.

Sessions in NYC featured drinks writer Gary Regan and leading bartender Ivy Mix of Leyenda in Brooklyn.
