PPL PRS is implementing some temporary changes to the way it manages The Music Licence for customers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
A spokesperson for PPL PRS said: “In response to Government advice regarding the closure of all businesses which are deemed as non-essential at this time, PPL PRS Ltd is committing to the support of all its customers who are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We understand that this is a challenging and worrying time that we all find ourselves in. To ease the financial burden on those businesses who have had to close, or who are experiencing financial hardship due to this situation, we are implementing some temporary changes to the way we manage The Music Licence for our customers.
“Existing customers will not be charged for their music usage during the period they are closed (temporarily or permanently) due to Covid-19.
“Changes to relevant payment policies to introduce further flexibility, including deferred payments. Any surcharges for the late payment of invoices will be temporarily suspended.
“The situation with Covid-19, and how it is affecting business is ever-changing, and we continue to monitor developments closely to ensure we are supporting our customers in the most appropriate manner.
“We would like to thank all those customers who are continuing to take out, pay for and renew The Music Licence for their businesses.
“The royalties collected through The Music Licence are a vital source of income for performers, songwriters and other music creators.
“Many of them are self-employed, sole traders or small businesses who – through the cancellation of live events, closure of music retailers and disruption to recording activities – are also being adversely impacted in these difficult times.
“We hope everyone is safe and well, and our thoughts are with anyone who may have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.”
