Punch adds beer on draught to help fight prostate cancer

Two Fingers Brewing Co Aurelio

Two Fingers Brewing Co has launched its award-winning golden ale, Aurelio, on tap for the first time – and using it to help fight prostate cancer.

All profits from sales of the draught beer, which is available through Punch pubs and bars in August and September, will go to Prostate Cancer UK.

Two Fingers Brewing Co was formed in 2014 by seven friends whose loved ones had suffered from prostate cancer, aiming to raise funds for fighting the disease through beer sales.

Their flagship beer Aurelio, which is brewed for them by Wold Top Brewery, has already raised over £13,000 for Prostate Cancer UK through sales of bottles in the on- and off-trade. Combining the refreshment of a lager with the flavours of an ale, it is brewed with Sussex pale malt and a touch of crystal malt plus Admiral and Goldings hops.

Punch has given Two Fingers a place in its guest ale scheme, with 1,200 licensees in its Finest Cask scheme having first pick for the first two weeks before all 3,200 Punch outlets are able to stock it for the remaining six weeks, which includes the start of the football season.

Matt Sadler, co-founder of Two Fingers Brewing Co, said: “At Two Fingers we make great beer for a great cause. With at least 10p from every pint of Aurelio going to Prostate Cancer UK, if every Punch pub stocks it whilst they’ve got the chance then beer lovers will raise tens of thousands of pounds for charity – just by enjoying an award-winning pint.

“So, whether you drink at a Punch pub or work at a Punch pub, make sure you ask the bar staff at your local to stock Aurelio.”

James Beeby, director of fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, added: “With one man dying of prostate cancer every hour in the UK, it is a disease that cannot be ignored. We need to be reaching out to men on their own terms, and it’s with the support of organisations such as Two Fingers Brewing Co and Punch Taverns that we can keep doing this.

“And we’re offering free Men United Arms fundraising packs to any pubs who’d like to make a real event around stocking Aurelio.”

Stephen Martin, drinks category manager for Punch, said: “We’re proud to be stocking Aurelio on draught for the first time and proud to be giving our customers the chance do good with some great beer. We’re encouraging everyone to get behind Aurelio and raise as much as possible for Prostate Cancer UK. Bottoms up!”
