A competition has been launched for Rebel Yell bourbon calling on bartenders to create a cocktail with “a rebel spirit”, offering the prize of a trip to Kentucky.
UK distributor Cellar Trends is looking for “adventurous” recipes that take a fresh look that moves away from the typical mainstream cocktails made with bourbon and other dark spirits.
For this first year of the competition, bartenders across London will compete in several heats, leading to the grand final on August 22.
The winner will be rewarded with a VIP trip to the Kentucky Bourbon Festival which runs from September 13 to 18 and is supported by Rebel Yell. Runners-up will receive a bottle from the Rebel Yell limited edition series which is not sold in the UK.
Information will be available from the Cellar Trends stand at the Imbibe Live show at Olympia in London on July 4 and 5. Bartenders can also find out more by subscribing to the “Band of Rebels” community on www.rebelyellbourbon.com.
Caroline Pihoue, brand manager for Rebel Yell at Cellar Trends, said that Rebel Yell was designed to stand out as the bourbon that inspires and empowers the confidence to blaze your own trail. “The new competition encourages bartenders to break from convention and bypass the norm of classic whisky mixes.
“We very much look forward to judging some adventurous creations based on either Rebel Yell Small Batch Rye or Kentucky Straight Bourbon.
“Judges will look for cocktails with attitude and soul, cocktails that will really appeal to bourbon lovers seeking a whole new taste experience.”
