Rockstar Spirits was launched in November 2018 by Thomas Hurst, 46, who waved goodbye to a 20-year corporate career in the drinks industry to realise his dream of launching his own very own spiced rum brand from home in Manchester.
After winning investment on 2021 series of Dragons Den the brand has gone from strength to strength and has been recognised for its consistent quality in the equivalent of the Rum Olympics – the Rum and Cachaca Masters.
“I’ve just done a quick tally and Rockstar Spirits UK has been the most awarded flavoured rum at The Rum & Cachaca masters as well as achieving the most golds over the past two years. A total of 10 medals with 7 golds and 3 silvers. I’m over the moon with the result and great that we can be classed as the best flavoured rum brand in the UK now.” said Hurst.
As well as the great showing at Rum Masters Rockstar were also honoured by the Department of International Trade recently receiving an award for Best Emerging Exporter for their work growing the brand in Australia where the brand is stocked nationally in the premium retailer Dan Murphys.
Following the brands increased awareness from last year’s Dragons Den episode Rockstar Spirits has released 3 new flavours taking the portfolio to ten products now in total.
They have also been focussing on building their presence in national restaurant and bar chains and have recently gone live with The Restaurant Group across the UK in their Chiquito, Frankie and Benny and Brunning & Price Pubs as well as the Stonegate Group’s Be At One cocktail bar chain.
“Our focus in 2022 is to bring our products to more bars across the UK and to further develop our export markets with Europe, US and Canada top of the list as our next target markets for expansion.” According to Hurst
