Described as the “ultimate great British café”, it has been designed by bar and restaurant specialist Mark Wilkie of design practice The Narrative.
The interior features banquette seating and tiled walls, giving it an urban “almost London Underground vibe”.
It serves classic and inventive cuisine, from eggs benedict and other breakfast treats through to pies, steak burgers and salt beef sandwiches, all made from Devon Rose beef. Every day at 3pm, there is afternoon tea with scones and Sally Clarke’s cakes.
It stocks London craft beers from Camden and Redchurch breweries and Jake’s Orchard strawberry and blackcurrant sparkling cider from Hush Heath Estate in Kent. It also offers wines such as Chapel Down and a range of cocktails.
Polo Bar at 176 Bishopsgate originally opened in 1953.
