Revolution Bars Group continues expansion with plan for Reading

Revolution Bars Group is to open a new Revolución de Cuba in Reading as part of its expansion plans in 2016.

It has announced that it has secured a site in central Reading, which will be a large-format version of the rum and Cuba-inspired concept, covering over 6,000 square feet.

Although no more details of the location have been released, the company said it would be food-oriented and have an outdoor trading area. It is due to open this autumn.

It comes as the company prepares to open a Revolución de Cuba in Liverpool’s Albert Dock, which will also be over 6,000 square feet and have an outdoor trading area. It is also set to open a new Revolution bar in Stafford in May.

These follow the successful opening of three new Revolución de Cuba bars in Leeds, Milton Keynes and Nottingham (pictured) over the last six months, all of which continue to trade well.

The group currently operates 52 Revolution bars and eight Revolución de Cuba bars and, including Liverpool and Stafford, will have opened five new venues in the group’s financial period of the 12 months to June 30, 2016.

Chief executive Mark McQuater said: ā€œI am delighted to report our expansion plans are progressing. We are encouraged with the performance of the three new Revolución de Cuba bars opened in the first half in Milton Keynes, Leeds and Nottingham.

ā€œWith two more bars scheduled to open prior to the year end and the first of our 2017 financial year new sites secured in Reading for later in 2016, our new site pipeline is strong and we remain confident of meeting our strategic growth targets.ā€
