Bartenders from the UK, the US and Sweden will come together at an event this month to launch the 2015 cocktail competition for Rhuby liqueur.

They will demonstrate their skills and cocktails at The Circus in Västerås, west of Stockholm, after winning previous national finals of the brand’s Pink Your Drink competition.

Guest bartenders at the event will be last year’s UK winner, Sian Ferguson of Heads & Tales bar in Edinburgh, US winner Liz Pearce from The Drifter in Chicago, and Nordic winner Charlotte Halzius from The Orangeriet in Stockholm.

Also at the event will be Jolene Cadwell, formerly of Bristol bar Flipside Cocktail Club and now global brand ambassador for Rhuby.

The competition is for female bartenders, supporting the Pink Your Drink foundation that helps to raise funds and increase awareness of the Pink Ribbon breast cancer campaign and also support female entrepreneurs.

At the launch event on March 25, the three bartenders will serve their winning cocktails, with a slight surcharge to raise funds to fight breast cancer.

Swedish TV star and entrepreneur Tiina Magnusson will talk about her own fight against breast cancer, which inspired a song, Running on Broken Glass sung by Julia Rosqvist, which is also raising funds to fight breast cancer.

Jolene said: “Having last year’s winners come to Sweden is a great way to raise awareness and give an important platform for the women in this male-dominated industry while simultaneously supporting an important cause affecting a large percentage of women in this world.”

Rhuby’s founder Ylva Binder said: “Pink Your Drink started in 2011 and we will maintain this competition for as long as I am around, wishing to become an important fundraiser against breast cancer in the world.”

The global final will this year take place in Åkers styckebruk in October 2015 during breast cancer awareness month.
