Rocket Leisure is on course to unveil its third bar, Old St Records, in east London, specialising in live music and cocktails.

The new 300-capacity venue, set across two floors, has been developed in the former premises of Tex-Mex restaurant Café El Paso in Old Street in Shoreditch. It is due to be launched on June 30 after being announced in August last year.

It follows the success of Venn Street Records in Clapham which was opened by Tom Jackman, Russell Taylor and Howard Taylor in 2010, and Northcote Road Records which opened in Battersea in 2013.

Old St Records promises live music six nights a week, with an eclectic programme of soul, funk, jazz and rock to classic pop. Shelves will overflow with colourful record sleeves while the walls will be filled with posters for bands and gigs. A selection of new vinyl releases will be available to buy behind the bar.

The cocktail list will feature twists on classics including the signature cocktail, Sour Records – a take on a Whiskey Sour that adds pistachio syrup into the mix. The summery Late Breakfast blends grapefruit vodka with pink grapefruit juice, house-made marmalade syrup, grapefruit bitters and a little egg white. Other cocktails on the menu include the Peach Negroni and a Smoked Pineapple Punch.

Authentic-style Italian thin-crust pizza will be served up with a variety of fresh toppings. Its “Cheap Date” promotion offers any two pizzas and cocktails for £15 from Monday to Wednesday.

From labels showcasing their up-and-coming talent to special one-off events featuring renowned DJs, music is the driving force behind the bar. Entry during weeknights is free alongside a happy hour promising two-for-one cocktails until 8pm.

Friday and Saturday nights bring two live acts a night where a small cover charge applies. Reservations are available for big groups.
