Beach huts, sand and rum cocktails have popped up at the Roundhouse entertainment venue in north London to bring a Caribbean summer holiday to the city.

Camden Beach features a 900 sq m terrace filled with 150 tonnes of sand, end-of-the-pier amusements, pop-up food stalls, beach huts, ping-pong and live music.

For drinks, the Roundhouse has partnered with Coco Re’al Cream of Coconut and Finest Call, producers of fruit-infused cocktail syrups and purees, as well as navy rum Pusser’s.

The Pusser’s Rum Shack is specialising in the modern classic, the Painkiller, which is made with Pusser’s rum, Coco Re’al, orange juice and pineapple juice.

Other cocktails available at the Rum Shack include the Drunken Sailor, made with Finest Call’s Mojito mix, and Sailor’s Cherry Pop, featuring Finest Call Margarita mix.

Running until the end of August, Camden Beach celebrated Black Tot Day with a party yesterday (July 31) – the anniversary of the last rum ration being given out by the Royal Navy.

During the five-week run, there will be master classes with global rum ambassador Ian Burrell and rum tastings.

It is the second year that Coco Re’al has been involved with Camden Beach. Steve Dingley, brand manager for Coco Re’al and Finest Call, said: “It is a very cool event, bringing something different and unique to London.

“Throughout the summer, there’s a great atmosphere and backdrop and it provides an excellent opportunity for us to reach new consumers with both Pusser’s Rum and Coco Re’al.”
