Rums, cognacs and Irish whiskeys hit UK in new Instil line-up

Bache Hyde Dark Matter

A variety of new spirits are being launched in the UK as part of the new-look portfolio of leading distributor Instil Drinks Company.

It has taken on Dark Matter, a dry, full-flavoured spiced rum made with fresh ginger, cloves, cinnamon, peppercorns and all-spice, produced by Scotland’s first purpose-built distillery.

Also new to the portfolio is The Real McCoy rum from Barbados, handling the small-batch 3 Year Old Silver, the 5 Year Old and the 12 Year Old expressions, as reported in February.

Instil has also become exclusive distribution agent for NB Gin, NB Gin Navy Strength and NB London Dry Citrus Vodka from NB Distillery in North Berwick in East Lothian.

Other white spirits in the new-look portfolio include the corn-based Prairie Organic Gin and Prairie Handcrafter Vodka from Minnesota, Rock Rose Gin and Holy Grass Vodka from Dunnet Bay Distillers in Caithness in Scotland, Original Eden Mill St Andrews Gin from Scotland, Jensen’s Gin from London’s Bermondsey Distillery, Freddie Mercury-inspired vodka Killer Queen from Latvia, and Scottish potato vodka Ogilvy.

Also new is Bache-Gabrielsen’s range of cognacs, including a VS, VSOP and XO and the cocktail-friendly Pure & Rustic expressions of VSOP and XO.

Instil is also tapping into interest in premium Irish whiskey with the Hyde range from West Cork, including 46% ABV expressions finished in ex-sherry and ex-rum barrels.

Agave spirits include Mezcal Eterno, the unique Mezcal Gin and Tequila Viviana alongside the Villa Lobos tequila range. Liqueur brands range from UK limoncello Pococello and France’s Combier to Luigi Francoli, Fratello and Fiorente.

Alongside its broad beer range, Instil has also introduced several new craft ciders to the UK: El Gaitero and Maeloc from Spain, Zeffer from New Zealand. Cidre Le Brun from France, and The Hills Cider Company from Australia.
