Savanna extends range with cider flavoured with hops

A smooth cider flavoured with hops has been released as a new variant from South African brand Savanna.

The new Savanna Cross has been developed to offer the taste profile of beer alongside apple cider as part of owner Distell’s ambition to take the brand to a wider market.

It is designed as an alternative in a marketplace dominated by sweet ciders and fruity expressions, appealing to beer drinkers looking for a lighter choice as well as cider fans seeking something new and people new to the cider category.

With ABV of 4%, it comes in 330ml cans – a format in growth within the cider sector – and releases the aroma of hops as soon as the ringpull is opened.

Amy Burns, marketing manager at Distell, said: “As a brand, Savanna is always looking to bring something different to cider consumers, from conveying our South African heritage and expert ability to create a crisp drink which tantalises the taste buds, to our latest release, Savanna Cross.

“We believe Savanna Cross offers something different for everyone. It has the distinctive refreshing cider taste we’re known for with a special twist, and because it’s less sweet than most ciders it can be savoured over a longer period, or chosen as a lighter alternative to beer.”

The latest product launch follows the success of the brand’s flagship expression Savanna Dry, which is triple distilled and double chilled, with ABV of 5%, with an emphasis on refreshment.
