Scandinavia inspires new coffee, dining and drinking concept

Leading bar and pub operator Faucet Inn has unveiled a new concept that combines all-day dining, drinking, coffee and takeaway.

Kupp at Merchant Square in Paddington Basin, London, takes inspiration from the Swedish Fika style of enjoying a coffee break, which is more about socialising than drinking coffee.

It has its own espresso and filter coffee blend, created especially for the brand, which is complemented by freshly baked breads and pastries for customers to enjoy on site or to “grab ‘n’ go”.

Large beer tanks of Czech beer Krušovice have been installed as part of a range of good-quality beers, available as a tankard or schooner or in a growler. They is also a large range of craft bottled beers and an international wine list.

Alongside statement sash windows, Kupp has an open-plan kitchen to create a sense of theatre for customers as they watch dishes being freshly created in front of them.

The all-day dining menu, starting from breakfast through to the evening, has been designed for people to enjoy together. It uses fresh, good-quality produce, sourced with attention to provenance.

The “simple, colourful and flavourful” food has a focus on some key Scandinavian ingredients served with “a Kupp twist”. Many of the dishes are suitable for grazing and sharing.

Located right by the canal, Kupp aims to deliver “a fresh, refined and considered” approach to dining out, with a philosophy around “simple things, done just right.”

Steve Cox, founder and managing director of Faucet Inn, said: “What we’ve created with Kupp is a truly unique concept which showcases our culture around creating simple things done very well – with no fuss.

“Kupp represents all that we love about coffee, food, drink and Scandinavia and we want to share this with our customers.

“Whether it be fresh food, an enjoyable drink with friends or the perfect coffee, Kupp will offer local residents and businesses an honest, warm and friendly experience delivered with real passion and knowledge from our teams.

“Most importantly, there will be a little bit of our favourite things available in our store for guests to purchase and take home with them.”

Faucet Inn has an eclectic 22-strong portfolio of traditional English pubs, modern bars and boutique hotels across London and the south-east. They range from Cargo and Tap Room in Southampton to London bars Babel in Battersea, Comptons in Soho and Neighbourhood in Stratford.
