The Scottish Juniper Festival is returning to Edinburgh in June for a second year, featuring gins from Scotland and beyond.

Tying in with World Gin Day on June 13, the festival takes place over three days from June 12 to 14 at Summerhall, aimed at both consumers and the trade.

Gins confirmed for sampling include No 3 Gin, Opihr, Pickering’s, Darnley’s View, Rock Rose Gin, Portobello Road Gin and Ish Gin.

It will feature talks on gin and cocktails, including Cocktails with bartender and consultant Mike McGinty and Tonic Masters with 56 North, taking place in Summerhall’s 100-year-old Anatomy Lecture Theatre.

Visitors will be able to see the distillery based at Summerhall which products Pickering’s. There will also be a gin and tonic bar in the courtyard and a cocktail bar inside as well as a gin shop.

The Scottish Juniper Festival was launched last year by Martin Duffy (pictured) from Edinburgh bar 56 North and consultancy Solid Liquids, who wanted to bring it back for 2015 because of the inaugural event’s success.

He said: “Gin has always been a British classic but the gin scene is really thriving at the moment with so many new flavours and serves being championed by international, UK and Scottish gin brands.

“It’s a fantastic time for gin lovers with a whole new world of gin to explore and sample.

“Over three days the festival showcases a variety of these extraordinary gins through engaging talks and mixology sessions and, best yet, there is the opportunity for everyone who comes along to sample them.”

Tickets at £21.50 are on sale at Tickets are for one of four sessions: Friday 12 June from 5pm to 9.30pm; Saturday 13 June from midday to 4.30pm and from 5.30pm to 10pm; and Sunday 14 June from 12.30 to 5.30pm.
