A competition is to be held in September to find the best cocktail bartenders in London’s Mayfair, hosted by The Colony Club casino.

Entries for The Mayfair Tournament 2014, sponsored by gin and vodka producer Sipsmith, are now open, with a prize of £1,000 on offer for the winner.

The five highest scoring competitors will compete in a live final showdown at The Colony Club bar (pictured) on September 2. They will be given Sipsmith Gin together with five unknown ingredients and have five minutes to mix up three creations on the spot.

The judging panel will comprise The Colony Club’s director of hospitality Otto Hoenig, James Grundy, Andrea Briccarello, bars manager Riccardo Andreotti and Sipsmith master distiller Jared Brown.

Riccardo said: “The Colony Club has a stunning bar which boasts a fantastic range of seasonal cocktails. We are very passionate about our cocktails and are delighted to host this event that will bring together the finest of London’s cocktail-making talent.”

Located on Park Lane, The Colony Club is a contemporary venue, with a gracefully curved bar with a contemporary vibe, run by Riccardo who was previously at restaurants Corrigan and Galvin
