Seasonal release for first sloe gin from Bloom

Sloe Bloom GinA sloe gin has been released for the first time for Bloom London Dry Gin, made using traditional ingredients and techniques.

Sloe Bloom Gin has been created by master distiller Joanne Moore and is produced in a traditional pot still by macerating hand-picked sloe berries to give it a rich ruby-red colour and flavour.

On the nose, there are subtle aromas of almonds and kirsch, blended with the light floral aroma of Bloom Gin. On the palate, it has a smooth opening with a classic sloe taste, rounded off with some sweetness.

It follows the launch of Bloom gin, also created by Joanne, in 2010. It is part of the portfolio of Quintessential Brands’ G&J Distillers which also includes Greenalls Gin, Berkeley Square Gin and Ophir Gin.

The limited-edition Sloe Bloom Gin, which has an ABV of 28%, can be drunk neat, on the rocks or as an ingredient in cocktails such as the Sloe Bloom Winter Garden (see below for the recipe).

Other ideas for serves include a Sloe Bloom Fizz, made with 50ml of the sloe gin topped up with prosecco in a chilled champagne glass.

The Sloe Bloom Punch is made by adding dashes of lemon juice, apricot brandy and peach bitters to 50ml of the sloe gin with ice and cranberry juice, shaken with ice and strained into a cocktail glass.

Sloe Bloom Gin will be showcased by Quintessential Brands at the Taste of Christmas show at Tobacco Dock in London from November 21 to 24 November.
