Second London site for espresso and cocktail bar

Shoreditch GrindThe team behind cocktail and coffee bar Shoreditch Grind in east London are to open a new outlet in London’s West End.

The new Soho Grind will open in early May in Beak Street in Soho, serving coffees made with their own espresso blend from early morning until late at night.

Inspired by the success of cocktails at their Shoreditch site, a section of wall in the basement of the Soho outlet will slide back to reveal a hidden speakeasy bar serving cocktails. Drinks will include the Espresso Martini that Shoreditch Grind has become known for.

Soho Grind will also have an all-day food offering, with a selection of pastries, muesli and fruit in the mornings, a seasonal and fresh range of Italian-inspired food at lunch, and an evening menu of aperitivo-style snacks and small sharing plates.

Shoreditch Grind (pictured) was launched in 2011 by DJ and musician Kaz James from Australia and entrepreneur David Abrahamovitch in the landmark two-storey Roundhouse building on Old Street roundabout.

Open for coffee and food in the daytime, it starts selling cocktails from 5pm. It also offers Italian, American and Australian beers and a good wine list with a strong Australian influence.

Shoreditch Grind is also now home to a recording studio that has been used by DJs and artists such as Pixie Lott and Tinie Tempah.

In keeping with the Shoreditch recording studio, the team will release exclusive playlists via their website curated by friends and other special guests.
