CG Restaurants & Bars is continuing with roll-out of its Dirty Martini cocktail bar brand with the acquisition of a seventh site.
It has taken over a 2,800 sq ft site, formerly XOXO bar and restaurant, in Upper Street, Islington, in north London which it plans to reopen after a £750,000 refurbishment in late July.
It follows the opening of its sixth Dirty Martini in Clapham, south London, and the relaunch of Dirty Martini in Hanover Square in London’s West End this month. It also operates the original Dirty Martini in Covent Garden and three in the City in St Paul’s, Bishopsgate and near Monument.
CG is looking to secure two more sites for Dirty Martini in London this year as part of its strategy of opening 15 sites by the end of 2016. With Islington, it will have opened its five most recent sites in just over a year and a half.
Chief executive Scott Matthews said: “Dirty Martini has come a long way since opening our first bar in the heart of the Covent Garden Piazza. The new Islington site is a natural progression and means we are now present in many of London’s most active leisure destinations.”
The company said that Dirty Martini Clapham was currently exceeding all expectations, with the site performing 40% ahead of budget. The new Islington site will be refurbished in line with its Clapham bar which was designed by Darren Grapes of Grapes Design.
