Show preview: the latest in design at Interiors UK

interiors uk ShowA preview of this month’s Interiors UK show at NEC Birmingham

The latest design trends and products will be showcased this month at Interiors UK, the show for professionals involved in interior design. Covering the whole spectrum of interiors including retail, it features designers and companies operating in the hospitality sector, from bars and clubs to hotels and restaurants. Alongside over 500 exhibitors, a host of industry experts will provide insights and ideas on design across the four days of the show, which runs from January 19 to 22 at NEC Birmingham.

Highlights at the show will include a collaboration between leading designers and Out of the Dark, a charity that trains young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the art of furniture production. They will create four uniquely designed rooms, all with very different briefs, such as a hotel room by hospitality design consultancy Dtwo.

DesignersBlock is returning to the show for a seventh year, bringing together 20 talented designers in two separate areas to showcase their latest collections. The Fabric Pavilion, with its own champagne bar, will create a tactile environment dedicated to interiors fabrics for contract and home interiors. Fabric exhibitors will include Kobe, which will introduce its new Mystic collection of rich velvets and 3D jacquards.

New furniture designs and collections will be presented by suppliers to the hospitality sector, such as Glasgow-based Morris Furniture which has been manufacturing British furniture for over 100 years. Lloyd Loom of Spalding will be showcasing its latest furniture collections (pictured below), all made with traditional handcrafted methods to the exacting standards first produced in the 1930s, now supplied to bars and restaurants around the world.

This year’s Interiors UK sees the reintroduction of The Lighting Show, now in its 50th year. It will bring a VIP area and bar plus, for the first time, its own seminar theatre. Speakers will include Mike Simpson, technical and design director at Philips Lighting, who will talk on lighting trends and innovations, and Steve Allen of Connect Intelligence who will discuss new lighting technologies.

Lighting exhibitors will include Albioncourt, Febland Group and Clifton Lighting, exclusive distributors for Metallux Lighting and Voltolina Lighting from Venice.
