Independent bar chain Simmons Bar Group has opened its largest venue to date, located on London’s Oxford Street.
The new central London bar is the fourteenth site in the group’s portfolio and the first of three new openings set for 2019. It will be followed by Simmons Piccadilly and Simmons Monument.
With the capacity to hold over 350 people, Simmons Oxford Street has a “retro feel”, with old-school games consoles and traditional ‘Grandma’s wallpaper’ incorporated into the design.
Presented in a school textbook, libations on the cocktail menu include Juice Box, made with Bacardí White Rum, Passoa, passion fruit syrup and a pineapple wedge, and Strawberry Blonde, a blend of Bosford Pink Gin, strawberry purée, apple juice, elderflower presse and soda.
The bar boasts a raised DJ booth and dance floor surrounded by Waltzer-styled seating booths and a “larger than life” fairground sign.
Thursday through Saturday will see the party rolling long into the early hours with the venue closing at 4am, making it one of the areas latest opening bars. The Oxford Street site also has a private hire space that can fit 150 people.
