SIPSMITH GLIDES INTO A NEW ERA WITH AN EVOLVED, MORE SUSTAINABLE BOTTLE DESIGN TO CELEBRATE LONDON GIN HERITAGE 


The pioneers of the craft gin renaissance, Sipsmith, are once again challenging the status quo. Sipsmith’s visionaries, who opened the first copper pot distillery in London after a two-century hiatus in 2009, are continuing to make strides through a new bottle design that delivers on beauty, form and sustainability. 

The makers of the quintessential London Dry Gin have introduced a new, taller bottle, featuring a ripple pattern on its shoulders, inspired by Sipsmith’s water-loving swan motif. This motif draws its inspiration from the swans’s neck of the copper pot stills, which sit proudly on the new label. Eagle-eyed sippers will spot lots of references hidden on the front of the pack design, from the founder’s original delivery vehicle (a motorcycle scooter) to a scroll representing the new handwritten HMRC certificate for London’s first small batch gin distillery for 200 years. 

Building on their commitment to be the best gin for both people and the planet, Sipsmith  has ensured it is delivering on its B Corp values through its packaging redesign. It now uses up to 44% of recycled content and weighs 20% less than its predecessor, in turn reducing its carbon footprint. The wax-dipped lid has also been eliminated, saving 7 tonnes of single-use plastic per year and making the recycling process easier for consumers. 

Sipsmith also introduces enhancements to the look and feel of their gin bottle, designed with both bartenders and consumers in mind. The ergonomic bottle design offers a comfortable grip, allowing for effortless handling and pouring. Complementing this, a contemporary label design ensures shelf prominence, featuring intricate details hidden within an embossed tapestry.  

Sam Galsworthy, Co-founder, comments on the new packaging: “Since we started Sipsmith, our ethos has always been one of constant improvement. This beautiful new bottle design shows that it is possible to reduce environmental impact significantly without compromising the quality of the packaging. The joy for me here is in all the details – from a more sustainable closure to some hidden gems within the design. When you hold it in your hand, it’s far easier to pour from which will please bartenders and sippers alike. We are thrilled to get it out into the world and continue to make our gin the very best it can be.” 

The new packs will start to appear on shelf from w/c 18th September. 

The Sipsmith range will move to this packaging across retailers and trade during the end of this year and 2024.
