Six bartenders reach final stage of World Class global final

World Class 6 2016

The six bartenders to make it through to the last stage of the World Class competition global final in Miami have been announced.

Out of 56 national winners who started competing in challenges on Monday, judges selected 12 on Tuesday night for the second round and then just six on Wednesday afternoon. The final six are:

  • Dries Botty, The Dirty Rabbit, Antwerp, Belgium
  • Adrián Michalčík, L’Fleur, Prague, Czech Republic
  • Jennifer Le Nechet, Café Moderne, Paris, France
  • Ryu Fujii, Bar K, Osaka, Japan
  • Nick Wu, East End Bar, Taipei, Taiwan
  • Jonas Andersen, Mash Penthouse, Copenhagen, Denmark.

These six will be judged on their performance in Thursday’s Miami Shakedown which will see them working as a team to create a micro-bar in 24 hours and develop a set of special serves:

  • The Judges Championship Serve is made exclusively for the judging panel and can be one of the drinks used in a previous challenge.
  • The Guest Signature Serve is the bartenders’ signature serve, tasted and scored by the judges and afterwards served to the guests attending the challenge.
  • The Reserve Punch is a batched serve, to be served to the judges and scored and then served to all attending guests.

The global 2016 World Class Bartender of the Year will then be announced on Thursday night at 9.30pm in Miami – 2.30am on Friday in the UK.

GB winner Aidan Bowie from Dandelyan at the Mondrian London hotel was one of the final 12 to reach round two, which involved making American classic cocktails against the clock.
