Sloane’s Gin steps up activity in bars

Toorank is stepping up activity for Sloane’s Gin in the UK on- trade this year with a new brand ambassador and bartender cocktail competition.

The new UK brand ambassador is Joel Constantino, a bartender who was UK brand ambassador for Akvinta vodka and a key account manager at drinks specialist Love Drinks. His role includes promoting the Twisted Traditions competition that challenges bartenders to come up with cocktails inspired by traditions around gin.

Bartenders are battling it out to win £350 cash and an all-expenses-paid trip to the Netherlands, including a night in Amsterdam, a trip to the Sloane’s Gin distillery and an exclusive invitation to Toorank Distilleries’ annual summer party, for about 300 drinks industry professionals from around the world. The runner-up will also win a place on the trip, plus a cash prize of £150.The final will be in London in April.

Regional heats took place at 56 North in Edinburgh, won by Zoltan Pahoki of the Balmoral Hotel, and at the Finnieston in Glasgow, won by Alec Dyson of Booly Mardy’s. The heat at Graphic in London was due to take place as Bar magazine went to press, with judges including Bar’s editor Mark Ludmon.
