Southern Comfort and Buffalo Trace pop up for London Cocktail Week

Southern Comfort drinks will be served up with Southern fried chicken as part of a range of activities run by Hi-Spirits for this year’s London Cocktail Week.

The drinks company, which took over UK distribution of the classic liqueur in April, is creating the New Orleans-inspired Southern Comfort Chicken Stop pop-up at Old Spitalfields Market as part of the festival’s Cocktail Village.

It will not only serve up cocktails alongside Southern fried chicken but also be a first stop on a Southern Chicken Trail – a selection of London’s best chicken shops where Southern Comfort drinks will be on offer paired with fried chicken dishes.

Running throughout London Cocktail Week from October 3 to 9, it is part of a line-up of London Cocktail Week activities run by Hi Spirits which is also bringing back its popular Buffalo Bourbon Empire pop-up for 2016.

This year’s Buffalo Trace experience, running from October 3 to 7, will be at Hackney House at 25-27 Curtain Road. It will spotlight six exclusive bourbon cocktails \(pictured) created by leading London venues – The Vaults of Milroy’s, Barbecoa, Basement Sate, Blessings, Mash London and The Four Sisters.

Award-winning whiskeys from the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky will also be on offer, including the first chance for UK aficionados to sample the 2016 release of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection whiskeys.

For those interested in learning more about the heritage and culture of bourbon, the Buffalo Bourbon Empire will host a series of masterclasses throughout the week.

These include sessions with Drew Mayville, Buffalo Trace’s master blender, and Nicola Olianas, global brand ambassador for Antica Formula, who will explore the classic cocktail combination of vermouth and bourbon. Tickets can be booked at

Hi-Spirits has also developed activity for super-premium English gin brand Langley’s No 8, with exclusive £5 cocktails available at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, 214 Bermondsey, Arabica, Bermondsey Yard, Merchants House and Village East during London Cocktail Week.

Dan Bolton, managing director of Hi-Spirits, said: “London has always been one of the world’s great cocktail cities, and London Cocktail Week has reinvented the capital’s party spirit. We’re delighted that Southern Comfort, Buffalo Trace and Langley’s will be at the heart of the celebrations, and as always, our team is expecting a very busy week.”
