A sparkling rosé from Italy has been added to the range available in the UK from Spanish-based wine producer Freixenet.
Picking up on a “blossoming rosé renaissance, it is the first-ever Italian sparkling rosé from the brand and is made with a blend of Glera and Pinot Noir grapes from Italy.
Freixenet Italian Rosé is being rolled out in the on-trade ahead of rosé’s summertime peak and is already stocked by Revolution and Revolución de Cuba bars.
Freixenet, which is best known for its sparkling Spanish cavas, has launched the wine as part of its premium Italian range after the introduction of its hugely successful prosecco in May last year.
With a soft pink hue, the liquid comes in a strikingly designed bottle which the brand owners hope will make it the most “Instagrammable” tipple of the season.
According to its tasting note, it offers fragrant flavours of summer fruits and is light and refreshing on the palate. As well as being ideal as an aperitif, the wine is recommended for pairing with a range of dishes from fresh shellfish platters to light and fruity desserts.
