The Spirit Show is opening up a world of drinks innovation on 22 and 23 November at London’s Business Design Centre.
The history of The Spirit Show is brief but its rise as a must-attend event for the bar industry has been rapid. Originally launched in 2016 as a tasting event for the general public, it was the first exhibition to bring all the spirit categories together under one roof, with the incentive to make them the star of the show – not second to food, wine, beer or cocktails.
Now, The Spirit Show is returning for its 3rd year on 22 and 23 November at London’s Business Design Centre. Guests, including bar owners, managers and bartenders, will meet independent distillers, importers, distributors and everything in between. Some companies are so new they’ll be launching at the show, so it will be a unique opportunity to try the latest products before they hit the market.
The Spirit Show does what it says on the tin, it focusses on spirits – from gin, whisky, vodka and rum through to liqueurs, tequila, cognac and brandy. Whether it’s an independent distiller just launching in the market or an established brand, the spirits aren’t lost amongst other products. At this year’s show, there will also be an emphasis on cocktail ingredients, including purées and bitters, as well as bar equipment and services.
Organisers of The Spirit Show understand how precious time away from the bar is. The relatively boutique size and prime location of the event means that licensees and operators can meet with 150 exhibitors and sample hundreds of products in 2-3 hours, minimising time spent away from their establishments. Among this year’s exhibitors are American Beverage Marketers, Emporia Brands, Unicorn Tears Gin, Buzbees Beverages, Neptune Rum, Hi-Spirits, Cellar Trends and Two Thirsty Bulldogs, to name a few.
As well as giving visitors the opportunity to make hundreds of contacts and sample countless products, The Spirit Show is also a great place to learn about new trends and innovations. Forming the hub of the show, The Spirits Live Stage will be hosted by globally renowned bartender Dean Callan (pictured). Based in London, Dean has travelled the world and trained over 4,000 bartenders. He has also won several awards and worked as an ambassador and trainer for the coveted Behind Bars in Australia, Bacardi Group in Asia Pacific and William Grants and Sons Globally. Over the years, Dean has presented at bar shows including Cocktails and Spirits in Paris, Tokyo international Bar Show, the Moscow Bar Show, Whisky Live Shanghai, The Australian Bar Show. At The Spirit Show 2018, Dean will be presenting a fantastic line-up of brands including Real Cocktail Ingredients, Botran Rum and Nonino Grappa.
For more intimate brand presentations, guests can head to the Tasting Stage where they can take part in tutored tastings and really get under the skin of some of the brands that will be exhibiting at the show, including Luxardo, La Fee Absinthe, Salcombe Gin, Warner Edwards, Regal Rogue Vermouth and an exciting new low alcohol spirit.
New for this year, the bespoke Meetings App enables operators to set up meetings with suppliers ahead of the show, allowing them to plan ahead and maximise use of their time at the event. Additionally, the purpose built lounge provides quiet place away from the main show floor for industry professionals to get down to business.
