Spuntino champions bourbon with master classes

London restaurant Spuntino is championing bourbon with a new series of cocktail master classes alongside flights of whiskey.

It is launching The Bourbon County Cocktail Trail this month, featuring sessions every Sunday afternoon at midday from September 7 onwards.

They will be led by Benny Locke, head bartender at the New York-style diner, who will tell stories about bourbon and share the secrets of how to make the perfect cocktails. He will demonstrate three cocktails, such as an Old Fashioned, a Sazerac or an Old Pal.

The master class will be £20 per person and also includes a Swiss cheese, chipotle and jalapeno burger with fries on the side, along with a cocktail. Tickets are available at events@polpo.co.uk.

The Soho restaurant has also introduced a flight of three whiskeys – Four Roses Yellow Label, Eagle Rare 10-year-old and WL Weller Bourbon – which is available for £10.

Spuntino, which has just 27 seats and specialises in gourmet diner-style food, was opened in 2011 by restaurateur Russell Norman whose other sites in London’s West End include Polpo, Polpetto and Mishkin’s.
