Aspirational Brands will open St Martin’s House on 23rd March with an official launch to follow in April, the first of many new openings planned for 2022. Guests will be able to step in from the bustling London streets and be transported through the history of Covent Garden in an intimate restaurant with quality at its heart. It’s time to party like St Martin!
The group has taken over the former Tredwells site in Seven Dials, next to Covent Garden, which was previously owned by Chef Chantelle Nicholson. St Martin’s House spans across three floors, with a bar on the ground floor, leaving diners to enjoy a menu packed with reimagined British favourites on the first and basement levels. The menu will be made entirely from locally sourced, fresh produce.

The House Concept
Aspirational Brands have several venues across London including The Japanese Canteen and Lemongrass. However, St Martin’s House adds a second venue to their House concept, the first, Tatton House, located in Knutsford, Cheshire.
All of the House concept venues will share the same values and offer a home away from home all-day dining experience, whilst also holding strong individual identities of their own, which are based on the history of the areas in which they reside. Despite the group’s rapid expansion over the last two years, they pride themselves on maintaining an independent feel at each of their restaurants.
St Martin’s House aims to create a home for all at the centre of the community, serving exceptional cocktails and unique, fresh, British cuisine. It will provide a chance for guests to step inside from the bustling city streets to an intimate venue of pure escapism. Welcome home.

St Martin’s House
The name St Martin’s House was inspired by the history of the local area. St Martin’s Lane, where the restaurant resides, formed the original boundary of Covent Garden when the area was owned by the Earl of Bedford. St Martin’s Lane was named after St Martin-in-the-Fields, a church built by Henry VII in the 16th Century that was very much the centre of the community. St Martin’s House aims to revive this legacy within Covent Garden and Seven Dials in 2022: a house that welcomes guests, making them feel part of a family. A thriving venue that pays tribute to the history of Covent Garden and reignites the old community feel to the area.
The venue’s decor will present a strong nod to the history of Covent Garden, in particular, the flower market. Guests can expect walls filled with flowers, along with edible flowers featuring on both the cocktail and food menus. With St Martin’s House located firmly in the heart of London’s theatreland, there will, of course, be a huge theatrical element to their cocktail menu as well as a pre and post-theatre menu for theatre-goers to enjoy.
Martin himself will play an integral role in the story of the venue. So, who is he?
A 17th Century actor who spent his time between London theatres and throwing the very best parties in Covent Garden. Martin was a close friend of Francis Russell, the fourth Earl of Bedford, who built a house for himself in Covent Garden and commissioned Royal Architect Inigo Jones to build a square there, with houses fit for gentlemen – for many, this marked the true beginning of Covent Garden.
Once a man who spent his days on stage, now Martin likes to put on a show wherever he goes and prides himself on being a saint by day and sinner by night.
The ground floor bar will welcome guests who would just like to stop by for a drink, open until midnight on weekdays and with a late night license on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Head Chef
The menu will be created by St Martin’s House head chef, Val Armstrong, who continues the tradition of leading female head chefs at the site. Val joins St Martin’s House from San Francisco where she grew up and has been heavily influenced by the amazing seafood and incredible local sustainable produce that is Northern California’s bounty.
You will see this influence in her menu as she highlights sustainable and local London farms, cheeses, and the best seafood from the British coastline. She spent 13 years with Global Gourmet Catering, which was the first certified green catering company in the state of CA with clients such as Politicians and the Silicon Valley tech elite. She then made the move to SBE Lifestyle Hospitality running a multi-brand Location in the Bay Area.
