Staines bartender wins TGI Fridays national cocktail contest

Alice Ford (pictured) has been announced as UK winner of a TGI Fridays cocktail competition for bartenders working at its restaurants across the country.

Based at the restaurant and bar in Staines-upon-Thames in Surrey, she was named mixology champion after her cocktail, Honey Kist, proved the biggest seller over four weeks of competing with the creations of two other finalists from Edinburgh and Watford.

Her drink will feature permanently on TGI Fridays’ cocktail menu from October. Created with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Whiskey, it is fitting that Alice has also been rewarded with a trip to Lynchburg in Tennessee to visit the Jack Daniel’s distillery.

She said: “I can’t believe that my cocktail creation has been crowned the winner out of the 150 other entries. I’m so grateful to those that went into their local Fridays to give it a try, and I hope they enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed creating it. I’m already thinking of what I can come up with next to retain my title!”

The Honey Kist (pictured) is a sweet mix of real popcorn, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Whiskey, white cacao, Baileys, dulce de leche and ice cream, topped with sticky popcorn pieces drizzled in dulce de leche.
