A look ahead at what’s under the spotlight at Boutique Bar Show in Manchester on May 18
A star-studded line-up of new and premium brands will come together in the Old Granada Studios in Manchester for the Boutique Bar Show on May 18.
Studio 12 will host over 100 drinks products, including new British producers such as Wild Knight Vodka, Harrogate-based Slingsby Gin and North East micro-distillery Poetic License (pictured below).
They will feature alongside some of the leading boutique agencies including Maverick Drinks, Cask Liquid Marketing, 10 Degrees C, East London Liquor Company, Mangrove, Spirit Cartel and Emporia Brands.
Love Drinks will present brands from its portfolio including Mr Black coffee liqueur from Australia and the newly launched Lowlander Beers from the Netherlands while Indie Brands will showcase brands new to the UK including Lejay Crème de Cassis and Fortaleza tequilas
Gin enthusiasts can check out products new to the UK including Malfy Gin from Italy, De Jonger Genever from the Netherlands, Jawbox Gin from Belfast, Blind Tiger Gin from Belgium, and Gin Lane from London, while Belgium’s Copperhead will be releasing its new limited-edition Black expression.
Other exhibitors and brands will include Adnams, Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur, Arbikie’s Scottish spirits, Black Cow Vodka, Cellar Trends, Fentimans, Franklin & Sons soft drinks from Global Brands, Giffard liqueurs, Finland’s Kyrö Distillery, Masons Yorkshire Gin, Montelobos Mezcal, Ceylon Arrack and Sipsmith.
The main stage will host international drinks educators Davide Segat of Punch Room at the London Edition hotel and Leonardo Leuci of The Jerry Thomas Project in Rome. Talks with more business-led themes will look at the recruitment and retention of talent and how to make boutique brands work for your business.
Interactive sessions will include ice-carving workshops with Zoran Peric of Suntory Brands and armagnac blending sessions with Comté De Lauvia.
As a nod to World Whisky Day, the Boutique Bar Show will be hosting a Free Spirit World Whisky Competition giving competitors a chance to showcase their finest mixed whisky drink for a chance to win a hamper of malt worth £250 courtesy of Hammonds of Knutsford.
Three leading bar operators from Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester will share their signature drinks at Boutique Bar Show – their identities will be revealed nearer the time.
The show runs from 11am to 5pm, taking over Studio 12 – the largest studio on the Old Granada estate where shows such as Coronation Street were once filmed.

14.30 – 15.15: The Modern Punch – Davide Segat of Punch Room looks at the range of flavours available to the modern bartender and the inspiring drinks that can be produced.
15.45 – 16.15: Working a boutique bar – How can you make boutique brands work for your business? Michael Vachon of Maverick Drinks discusses the business case for small brands in the market.
16.30 – 17.00: Meet the Maker – A rum do with Malcolm Gosling, one of the world’s most entertaining and engaging brand owners.
