Star Pubs & Bars is investing £197,000 in a complete refurbishment of a bar in Knutsford, Cheshire, to help its lessees relaunch it as Twenty One Bar and Grill.
The Lounge (pictured) on the corner of Princess Street is being revamped to broaden its appeal, with a further £40,000 being invested in fixtures and fittings by the new lessees, Jasper Perry and Adam Bartnik.
Work began on September 23 and is due to take six weeks to complete, creating more space and allowing the bar to start offering food.
Changes to the site will include a new façade with windows brightening up the interior and the addition of a stylish first-floor conservatory spanning the existing terrace where drinks and meals will be served all year round. The area will also be available for private parties.
The interior of the bar is being given an elegant contemporary urban feel with exposed brick walls and reconfigured to make better use of the space.
Jasper said: “Twenty One Bar & Grill will offer Knutsford a new unique urban contemporary bar and restaurant. Working alongside Star Pubs, who are helping to invest in the site, we aim to deliver something different for the people of Knutsford and the surrounding areas which we hope and believe they will love.
“The site’s potential and having access to investment funds to improve it were two of the factors that appealed to us when we decided to take on the business.”
The investment in The Lounge follows a further £500,000 spend by Star Pubs & Bars on two Cheshire pubs earlier this year: The Coachman at Hartford and The Culcheth Arms at Culcheth.
Both were completely refurbished inside and out, upgrading them from wet-led community locals to good-quality pubs with a broad appeal providing good food, coffee and wi-fi.
The Culcheth had been closed for over a year before the refurbishment. Since re-opening, The Coachman has increased turnover fourfold.
