Stonegate Pub Company has invested further in its Slug and Lettuce bars with a refurbishment and new site in London.

It has spent £250,000 in revamping the Slug and Lettuce in High Street, Beckenham, in south-east London which is due to re-open on Saturday June 28.

It will also have an extended food offer, with dishes such as the S&L Burger, a 10oz Ribeye Steak with King Prawn Skewer and Lamb Ribs. The site will offer breakfast together with a range of lunch and dinner options which include the group’s “under 500-calorie” menu and its platter range alongside a mix of steak, fish, vegetarian and seasonal options.

The investment sees the introduction of Costa Coffee, which will mean guests can pop in for morning coffee and breakfast from 10am Monday to Saturday and from midday on Sunday. It will offer a choice of hot drinks throughout the day including americano, latte, cappuccino and hot chocolate as well as a range of Twinings teas.

The bar will also have the latest Slug and Lettuce cocktail menu, which offers 2-for-1 cocktails Thursday to Saturday from 4pm to close and all day Sunday. Cocktails include the Rumberry Mojito, Blackberry and Elderflower Pimm’s and Cinnamon Bomb.

An extended wine menu boasts world wines such as Vavasour Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, Chardonnay Terlato from the US and Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut. It will also stock a range of world beers and offer free wi-fi.

The venue will open until 11pm Monday to Thursday, until midnight on Friday and Saturday and until 10.30pm on Sundays.

Stonegate has also invested in transforming a former Cape bar and restaurant into a Slug and Lettuce in Wood Street in the City of London, which will open on Tuesday July 1.

With the introduction of the Costa Coffee offering, it will open for breakfast from 7am Monday to Friday and 10am on Saturday. It will offer the same range of food, cocktails, wine and world beers as well as free wi-fi.

General manager Ruth Arkless, said: “This Slug and Lettuce will work really well in this area of London. We will also be offering the popular Slug and Lettuce menu and drinks offer.”

The venue will close at 11pm Monday to Friday and at 6pm on Saturday. The site does not open on Sundays but is available for private hire.

Stonegate acquired the site along with two others branded as Cape as part of a package of 78 bars and pubs from Bramwell Pub Company in November last year.
